The solution
The solution to this problem is a little bit tricky, but no complicated.
- Convert the computer using the VMware standalone converter.
After conversion the machine will not be able to boot. - Run the converted virtual machine again until it boot in System restore mode.
- On the system restore menu run the command line console and delete the followin files.
- C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\IAStor.sys
- C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\IAStorV.sys
- Shutdown the virtual machine.
- Now from inside the VMware standalone converter reconfigure the virtual machine
- Power on the new virtual machine and it should now be able to run.
